is to enable deaf participants in the course to get a basic medical education in a flexible form. This creates the possibility to get an education in this subject on equal terms as hearing participants to whom this course already exists developed by the Center of Flexible Learning, http://www.cfl.se.
The goal
is to develop material to the Basic course in medicine, so it can be flexibly provided. The materialet is web based and consists of web pages including video in sign language, subject information on video and sign language, pictures and text. To the course is also created a number of exercise tasks laid out in sign language and contained in a set of starting contributions in a sign language forum with the goal that the participants will study and create their own answers in sign language so it will be accessible to other participants and course leaders.
The participants learning engagement is stimulated through this and the interaction is kept alive even when the studies takes place on a distance. The SignForum is a tool developed in another project. To direct interaction between course leaders and participants, and between course participants, the participants are encouraged to use broadband video communication with strong transfer of sign language as another vital part in intense interaction and sense of group belonging. To encourage this interaction, the course material contains requests to group work with presentations in SignForum.
The result
will be material which makes it easy and effective to the course supplier to carry out the Basic medicine course with sign language participants and sign language knowledgeable course leading.
